Bella Vista POA Water Services Worker I

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Water Services Worker 1 locates water mains in the repair and installation of water mains, lines and new water services.  May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Water Utility Superintendent.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support for the department.  In addition to other duties as assigned, will locate water main utility lines in connection with the installation and tapping of water mains.  Will locate cables, flushing water mains, checking for leaks and assisting the Water Service Worker II in those functions. Will operate heavy motor equipment in the operation, maintenance and repairs of the entire water system.

EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only)

  • Locates water mains through use of blueprints and metal detectors.

  • Stakes out area for digging.

  • Checks for utility cables during digging.

  • Locates mains and sets for tapping.

  • Connects a line, sets the meter, flushes the line and arranges for back-filling.

  • Repairs roads with SB2 patch and asphalt.

  • Locates leaks in water mains and repairs.

  • Flushes fire hydrants.

  • Regulates the flow of chlorine into the water supply.

  • Keeps an inventory of parts and supplies.

  • Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Writes simple correspondence.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must work safely at all times.  Must conform to all Bella Vista Property Owners Association Water Utility policies and procedures.  Must operate a backhoe and lowboy on a limited basis. Must locate water mains, raise valves and repair meters and boxes.  Must have the ability to read blueprints. Work requires continual attention to details. Must exhibit excellence in Customer Service with all customers.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License within 90 days.  Must have the ability to obtain a State of Arkansas Grade IV Distribution License.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit.

  2. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

  3. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

  4. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Greater than 50 pounds may require team lift.

  5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

  6. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach and leg-lifts.

HOLIDAY ISLAND WASTEWATER - CLASS IV WASTEWATER OPERATOR

 

The Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District (HISID) is currently seeking an ADEQ licensed Class III or IV Wastewater Operator at the HISID Wastewater Treatment Plant. This position will be responsible for the operation of the treatment plant as well as the wastewater infrastructure of Holiday Island.
